Press Release

Havanesque is the debut full-length album from Cuban-born piano virtuosos, The Alonso Brothers. The album is a return to roots for the duo, who pay homage to the golden age of Cuban music. A colorful take on the classics of the 1930s through the 1960s, Havanesque features original arrangements in a variety of genres and styles — from the seductive melodies of the bolero, son and danzón, to the exotic and intricate rhythms of the mambo, cha-cha-chá, salsa and conga. With fresh and surprising renditions of familiar favorites like Leonard Bernstein’s “Mambo” from West Side Story and “Oye Cómo Va” by the legendary Tito Puente, the Alonso Brothers construct a vivid soundscape celebrating Cuba’s vibrant rhythms and sinuous melodies.
